Watch and trade terms

Reference (number): the manufacturer's model code that identifies a specific watch (for example, 168.009/168.017). Matching it to the catalog auto-fills the specifications.

Box & papers: the original box and accompanying documents (warranty card, manual, receipt). Their presence affects value and completeness.

Full set / Watch only: the scope of what's included. A full set comes with box and papers; watch only (also called "watch head") is the timepiece alone.

New Old Stock (NOS): an unworn watch from an earlier production run, still in original condition.

Condition vs condition grade: two separate dimensions. Condition describes the watch itself (Original, Aftermarket, Damaged, Copy, and so on); condition grade describes wear (New Unworn, Excellent, Good, Fair).

Consignment / Consignor: selling a watch on someone else's behalf. The consignor owns the watch; you sell it for them.

Margin scheme: a VAT scheme for second-hand goods where tax is calculated on your resale margin rather than the full price. Set it on a watch's acquisition. For how it applies to your business, check with your accountant.

Worldwatch terms

Inventory: the collection of watches you own on Worldwatch, listed or not.

Listing: a watch published to a sales channel. Inventory and listings are different: one watch can have several listings.

Channel: a marketplace or store you connect to sell through (eBay, Shopify, WooCommerce, Wristler, Bezel, and the Worldwatch marketplace).

Marketplace: Worldwatch's own dealer-to-dealer marketplace, open to verified dealers.

Buy request: the offer a buyer sends on a marketplace listing. When the seller accepts, the deal is binding.

Sell order / buy order: the order record created when a watch sells or is bought.

Acquisition: the buying details on a watch (price, supplier, tax scheme, invoice). See record an acquisition.

Disposal: the record created when a watch leaves your inventory, including an off-platform sale.

Delivery scope (scope of delivery): what ships with the watch. The Worldwatch marketplace requires it on the item before you can list.

Seller label / buyer label: who creates the shipping label on a sale. The seller sets it per listing; see payment and trust on the marketplace.

Verified Dealer: a dealer whose business Worldwatch has verified. See dealer verification.
