Connect eBay as a sales channel

Link your eBay seller account to Worldwatch so your watches can be published and synced to eBay listings from the Worldwatch dashboard.

Connecting eBay takes about five minutes. You authorize Worldwatch to publish listings on your behalf via OAuth, map a few defaults (payment method, return policy, shipping profile), and then you can publish any inventory watch to eBay from the Worldwatch dashboard.

The connection is per-dealer, not per-listing — you do this once and every watch you publish afterwards uses these defaults.

eBay's OAuth tokens expire every 18 months. When they do, in-flight publishes silently stop. When you see the yellow "Reconnect" state on the eBay tile, click Reconnect and repeat the OAuth handshake — your defaults are preserved.

Before you start

  • An active eBay business seller account. Personal eBay accounts can't be connected.
  • Payment method, return policy, and shipping profile already configured on eBay. Worldwatch picks from these — it doesn't create them.
  • An hour of padding on either side of the connection. If eBay is rate-limiting or their API is degraded, the handoff can fail silently; leave time to retry.

Open the channels settings

In the dashboard, open Settings → Channels → Add channel and pick eBay.

Sign in to eBay

You're redirected to eBay's sign-in. Sign in with the seller account you want to connect.

Approve the permissions

On the consent screen, eBay lists the permissions Worldwatch requests: view and manage your listings, view your payment methods, view your account info. Approve.

Return to Worldwatch

You're redirected back to Worldwatch. The eBay tile on Settings → Channels now shows Connected.

Set the defaults

Open the eBay tile to configure what every new listing uses:

  • Payment method — pick the eBay-configured payment profile you want new listings to use.
  • Return policy — pick your pre-configured return profile.
  • Shipping — choose whether the seller provides the shipping label or the buyer arranges their own. Most dealers pick seller-provided for authenticity reasons.
  • Listing category — Worldwatch defaults to the Watches category; override if you list in a sub-category.

Save and you're done

Click Save defaults. You're ready to publish.

Verify

Open any watch in Inventory → Manage watches and click Publish. eBay appears in the channel list with a "Ready" badge. If eBay shows a "Configure" badge instead, one of the defaults is still missing — the tile tells you which.

Troubleshooting

"Connection expired, please reconnect"

eBay's OAuth tokens expire every 18 months. When that happens, the tile flips to a yellow "Reconnect" state and in-flight publishes stop working. Click Reconnect in the eBay tile and repeat step 2 onward — no need to re-enter defaults.

"No payment method available"

You haven't completed eBay's Managed Payments onboarding yet. Log into eBay directly, finish Managed Payments, then reopen the Worldwatch channel tile — the payment method picker populates automatically on the next page load.

Publish fails with "Listing policy mismatch"

An eBay category sometimes requires additional policies (e.g. VAT registration for luxury watches in the EU). eBay returns the specific policy in the error. Update the listing on eBay's side, then re-publish from Worldwatch.
